What to expect at this event

Enjoy tastes from the Tuscan kitchen of Janet Ross with chef Michael Waterfield, Dr Claudia Capancioni, The Cheese Society and The Straw Collection.

Claudia introduces Janet Ross, a Victorian Anglo-Florentine who entertained guests such as William Gladstone, Robert Browning, Mark Twain and Virginia Woolf. In LEAVES FROM OUR TUSCAN KITCHEN, Janet recorded the recipes of Giuseppe Volpi, her cook for over 30 years. Published in 1899 and still in print, it appeared at a time when vegetables were considered only as an adjunct to the main course. With the support of chef Michael Waterfield, who is Janet’s great-great nephew, this event offers a taste of Ross’s recipes through sampling the cheese she used, accompanied by Tuscan wines.
